Our Story
Our aid project began in 2014, delivering clothing and eye glasses to disadvantaged people in the remote Tsum Valley. In 2015, two massive earthquakes struck the mountains of Nepal destroying the rock buildings typically used for houses and schools.
We gathered heartfelt contributions from people in the United States and Europe, then distributed grants to mountain people in need. This money helped to buy food, clothing, rebuild houses and even build a temporary school. Since the earthquakes, we have directed most of our efforts to assist people in the regions of Sama and Tsum, high altitude valleys where meeting the needs for life is challenging even in good times. |
Because many mountain families, monks, and nuns live above 11,000 feet elevation, they can grow only barley and potatoes... not enough to sustain their needs. As a result they often experience poor nutrition or hunger.
For centuries these hardy people have relied on trade with the region of Tibet. Since COVID, the border with Tibet has been closed and the people of Sama and Tsum have little money to buy food. Please consider contributing to our projects that include food and clothing aid, solar lights, agricultural development, and economic development for mountain weavers. Your tax deductible donation will directly benefit the lives of families, nuns, and monks. |
